Italian chocolatier, Ferrero, has recently published its new 2017 CSR report, publicising the company’s commitment to stop using eggs from caged hens globally by 2025.
In Europe, Ferrero has already been using only barn eggs since 2014; the company has now extended it's cage-free commitment across all its other geographical operations.
Although they only represent about 5% of Ferrero’s global egg business, the chocolatier's cage-free commitment now extends to its supply chains in Mexico and Turkey.
Elisa Bianco, Italian Food Business Manager at Compassion, comments: "We congratulate Ferrero for joining the growing number of companies that have chosen to phase out caged eggs from their global supply chains. We hope this move will encourage others in the sector to follow suit.
