'Sustainable food and farming award 2024'

“We need a resilient food system that is kinder to nature and recognises the incredible value of healthy soil. We think a regenerative approach has the potential to do this. We are excited to extend our work at Leckford by now working with other farmers in supporting transition to regenerative agriculture across our UK based farmers and growers.” Andrew Hoad, Head of Leckford Estate

‘Good Chicken Award Update’ - Waitrose were awarded a GCA in 2010 and in 2019 they signed up to the Better Chicken Commitment. Waitrose already meet the enrichment criteria and are working to complete breed change by 2026 deadline.

"We are delighted to have once again received these awards, particularly to have held onto our status as a leading supermarket in animal welfare since 2004 and winner of the Best Retailer Award four consecutive times in a row.”

"It takes enormous passion, commitment and hard work to achieve the high standards we've maintained for the past 30 years. This is unquestionably a direct result of the longstanding and close relationships we've built with our farmers over multiple decades and without their loyalty and dedication, these accolades would simply not be possible."

Jake Pickering, Senior Agriculture Manager, Waitrose & Partners
