Tesco extends cage-free policy to central Europe

News Section Icon Published 14/08/2017

UK supermarket Tesco, the world's third-largest retailer, has extended its pledge to end the sale of eggs from caged hens to all of its central European stores from 2025.

It follows a similar commitment by its UK division in 2016 and is set to include both own brand and branded eggs.

Tesco’s central Europe region includes all stores in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

A statement from the company said from 2025 the range would include barn, free range and organic egg from those countries.
